Long winter lets at special rates
Mijas benefits from winter temperatures consistently higher than those in the UK
Two apartments situated in one of the best positions in Mijas Pueblo with views that are breathtaking both day and night when a carpet of lights twinkles as far as the eye can see. To extend the swimming season the pool is heated in April, May and October. There are plenty of sun beds and individual parasols on terraces around the pool and next to the pool there is a covered terrace with padded lounge seats, coffee tables, a hydrotherapy spa and a new games area in the garden with giant draughts, quoits, etc. It is a level walk into the village centre from the end of our road but for those who are less fit a car is advisable as although the road to the villa is short it is quite steep. Reasonably fit people who do not want a car however find the hill no problem and consider that the stunning views make the inconvenience of the hill well worth the climb. There is an excellent bus service from the bottom of the road.
There are two bedrooms, one with queen size bed and en-suite shower, toilet and wash basin. The second is a twin bedroom with an adjacent (although not en-suite) shower, toilet and wash basin. Both bedrooms have drawers and plenty of hanging space and hangers. There is also a cot, high chair and baby bath available at a small charge for very young guests. The lounge is comfortably furnished with dining table and four chairs, lounge suite, sideboard, satellite TV, DVD player and wireless internet access. The kitchenette is fully equipped with microwave, ceramic hob, oven, tall fridge freezer, crockery, cutlery, glassware, pans, slow cooker. Although not large it has work surfaces and is fully equipped for cooking meals for four people. The washing machine, iron and ironing board are in cupboards in the hall. All the rooms have views of the village, mountains and sea. The private terrace has a table and four chairs for dining outside. The private BBQ and drying rack are situated down steps underneath the terrace.
There are two bedrooms, one with queen bed and one with twin beds. There are also two shower rooms each with toilet and wash basin. There is a fully equipped kitchenette with crockery, cutlery, glassware, serving and cooking dishes, pans, microwave, slow cooker, two ring ceramic hob and griddle, tall fridge freezer and everything necessary for cooking a full meal for four. The washing machine and iron is also in the kitchen. Outside there is a drying rack for clothes and a gas BBQ. There are two private terraces. The first terrace is under cover and has a table and six chairs and the second is a roof terrace with 360-degree views. In certain weather conditions Gibraltar and the Atlas mountains of Morocco can be seen. This terrace also has a further small table and chairs for al fresco dining.
All rooms have individual air conditioning/heating units. There are steps leading down to Casita Janine but once inside it is level. Casita Julian has fewer steps leading to it but inside there are three steps leading down to the second bedroom. Children are welcome but they must be supervised at all times both indoors and out.
The villa is built on the side of a hill and is on several levels with steps leading down to both apartments from the car park. Sadly therefore neither apartment is suitable for people with serious mobility problems.
The facilities are for the sole use of the occupants of the two apartments and the maximum number of guests at any one time is 8. The swimming pool is not a regular shape but overall is an average of 8 meters by 4 meters. There are plenty of terraces for sun bathing with individual parasols but for people who like total shade there is a covered terrace with comfortable lounge chairs next to the pool area. This is also where the six-seater hydrotherapy spa is placed. The fact that as it is kept at a constant temperature of 35 degrees and is under cover makes it very suitable for use throughout the entire year. There is a garden behind the house and a small covered games area with a simple putting game, quoits, giant chess and draughts and giant outdoor connect 4. Fun for all the family to join in.
The beaches of Fuengirola can easily be reached by public transport but if a car is available then the entire coastline with its many different types of beach are easily accessible. There are long straight stretches of beach in Fuengirola, Los Boliches and Benalmadena Costa, a bay in Mijas Costa and sand dunes in Cabopino. There are numerous golf courses within a very short drive of the villa with Mijas Golf, Alhaurin Golf and Lauro Golf being the closest. All of these courses are of a high calibre. The mountains of the Sierra Nevada are a two-hour drive away from Mijas. The skiing here is good although probably not as good as the resorts of Austria and Switzerland. However the scenery is dramatic and there is the advantage of being just a few minutes drive to the beautiful city of Granada. It would be a long day but it is possible to ski and visit the Alhambra Palace on the same day. Malaga airport is a twenty minute drive away. Although the proximity to the airport is extremely convenient there are no flight paths above Mijas. The village centre is less than ten minutes' walk. It is beautiful and full of interest and because of its central position on the Costa numerous places of interest can easily be visited. Fuengirola 10 mins by car, Benelmadena 15 mins, Marbella 20 mins, Ronda 1 hr, Gibraltar 1 hr, Granada (Alhambra Palace) 2 hrs, Cordoba 1.5 hrs, Seville 2 hrs, The Lakes, (where the king has a house) 1 hr, El Chorro (where Von Ryan's Express was filmed) 3/4 hr and Nerja and its spectacular caves 3/4 hr.
The village of Mijas has everything needed for a holiday. There are several banks, two chemists, doctors, three small supermarkets, a daily market, post office, tobacconists, numerous bars and restaurants to suit every taste and budget. There are also many taxis and a good bus service to the coast. There is an excellent playground for children situated in a park at the top of the village close to the main church and the bullring. The park has fantastic panoramic views of the coast below. There are also two small museums in the village that tell us about the history of the village and how it was 50 or 100 years ago. One of the nicest tourist attractions is to take a ride around the village on one of the famous Mijas d donkeys or in a horse and carriage. Add to this all the numerous shops selling leather ware at good prices, shops selling Lladro and other goods make it the perfect place to stay and relax but if you are feeling energetic then you can walk and bird watch in the hills behind the village. Down towards the coast ten or fifteen minutes away there is an Aqua Park, a cable car to the top of the mountain, Fuengirola award winning zoo, Tivoli Gardens fun fair, Hipodromo horse racing course, Selwo marina, a crocodile park and much, much more. You could spend a month in and around Mijas and never run out of things to do.
