The house is situated in an enviable position on the edge of the village of St Médard, with wonderful views from the terrace and the garden and is within walking distance of the Gindreau restaurant one of the best in the whole Lot region.
The stream of the Vert, which is reduced to little more than a trickle in dry summers, which flows through the valley below, rises in limestone hills a few miles north east. Flowing south west through pasture and maize fields it links the villages of Gigouzac and Catus where it feeds a swimming lake and where there are village shops; it finally joins the Lot River at the ancient bastide of Castelfranc. From Castelfranc you can travel east along the river as it snakes through the vineyards of aoc Cahors, past the charming little town of Cahors and then east past limestone cliffs to wonderful villages like St Cirq Lapopie.
